The Process Difference -- Steel Applications

Your product is unique. You have specific requirements for the thickness
of porcelain to be applied, its color, finish, thermal qualities, and
more. You might even require that certain sub-assembly work be performed,
perhaps that it be packaged and shipped as well.
Because you have a unique application, our plant is designed to accommodate
practically any shape or size product in large or small volumes, from
coating your product through a complete turn key job.
Within our plant, Porcelain Industries dedicates half to steel applications,
and half to cast iron applications. This is important for overall quality
and volume requirements, because not all facilities meet every coating
requirement.
Let's Start With The Finish
Porcelain enamel begins as "frit" - a type of glass
that is scientifically formulated with clays, electrolytes, metal oxides,
and water.
Our lab and suppliers work together with you to select from over 50
such minerals in order to achieve different effects and properties
you demand.
Steel Substrate Application Process Steps
After the porcelain formulation has been tested, produced in pilot quantities
and approved by you, steel substrate applications proceed as shown here.
- Inspection
- Washing
- Drying and Cooling
- Coating
- Drying
- Firing
